<br/><br/> The Pengkalan Member is an inland swamp deposit made up of freshwater peat with minor amounts of humic silt and clay of terrestial origin. Due to poor accessibility and water logged conditions, especially in the southern part, borings were made only in areas which have been drained and opened up for agriculture. In many places, references have to be made to other source of information such as soil maps, to delineate the distribution and extent of the peat deposits.
