<br/><br/> A project to assess the placer gold potential of the Sungai Sarawak and Sungai Kayan drainage area was initiated in 1991 as a project under the Sixth Malaysia Plan (6MP). The reconnaissance phase covering about 360km2 of the two drainage basins is planned for completion in 1995. Up to 1993 fieldwork in the Upper Sungai Sarawak Kanan and Middle Sungai Sarawak has been completed with a total coverage of 100km2.
