Silica (Si 02) is one of the commorest material in the earth's crust. Mineralogically it occurs maily as quartz, which in its promary form is found as diseeminted grains in both igneous and metamorphic rocks such as granite or quartzite, and in sedimentary rocks such as sendtone.
