The country rock at the study area are metasediments of the Mersing Bed are generally weathered. Quartzite and phyllite are found in the Chini 1 area. Bedding of the rocks striking 010 / 25 W are noted. Magnese resources formed as shallow-marine chemical sediments associated with massive sulphide deposits when deep anoxic water with high manganese solubility mixed with shallower oxygen baering water with low manganese solubility
