The findings of the survey suggest that the northern half of the survey site is dominated by relatively shallower bedrock as compared to the south. A small cavity was identified in the swamp. There findings were later confirmed by drilling an additional eight boreholes. Soil investigation carried out earlier did not show the present of cavities. From the microgravity survey and the follow-up drillings, the consulting engineers were able to propose a technically and economically feasible alternative to their foundation design.
