<br/><br/> Systematic reconnaissance geochemical sampling of the Tanah Merah area was initiated in late 1979. From 1981 until the completion of fieldwork in 1985, sampling was carried out simultaneously with geological mapping which was conducted on a 1:63, 360 scale. The area is known for its iron, base metal and precious metal mineralization.
