N2  - The geology of south-east Pahang between the Pahang and Rompin Rivers is unmapped and the age of the metamorphosed series of sedimentary and volcanic rocks is not known. The strong shearing and step cleavage and dips, together with the frequent small intrusives in the area suggests that they pre-date the deposition of the Tembeling Series (Jurassic) which occupies broad syncline in the valley of Sungei Jeram to the west, (1) (2), and they certainly pre-date the deposition of the flat-lying orthoquartzites and shales of the Gagau series (L. Cretaceous) which outcrop extensively south of the Sg. Rompin (3)
