<br/><br/> Reconnaissance geochemical sampling was carried out intermittently in the Kuala Betis area, sheet 44, from 1977 to 1986. A total of 873 stream sediment, 788 stream water, 299 heavy mineral stream concentrate and 93 rock samples were collected over an area of 1,290 km2. Prior to this, Aw (1975) studied the distribution of alluvial gold in the Sungai Chendawan-Sungai Lalat sector, and in 1986 a study on the mineral potential of the proposed Nenggiri dan reservoir area was carried out by Teoh and others (1986, 1987).
