<br/><br/> Hitherto, field mapping geologists in the Geological Survey have paid very little attention to the study of unconsolidated deposits in their respective map areas mainly due to the lack of facilities. It is not surprising therefore, that little attempt had been made to subdivide unconsolidated sediments into lithostratigraphic units let alone describe each in detail.
