The Lubuk Mandi deposit in the state of Terengganu is the first significant discovery of primary gold mineralization in the carboniferous metasediments of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The mineralisation occurs in quartz veins within a sleeply-inclined fault zone trending nearly north-south. Detailed geochemical and mineralogical studies were carried out on drill cone sections in order to characterise the gold distribution and to improve the understanding of the metallogenesis of the deposit.
