<br/><br/> The rocks found in the area fall into three main groups; (i)Recent sediment and alluvium-Yellop on Map. (ii)Sedimentary, volcanic and metamorphic rocks-Black Green or Brown on Map. (iii)Granite, intrusive into (2) above-Red on Map, small stocks orange. In the north, western corner the sedimentary-volcanic series has been maps in some detail. In the remainder of the area only the major group boundaries are known.
