520 | _aAbout 80 percent of the Kinta Valley is underlain by limestone bedrock with some cropping out as hills. Natural erosional processess acting on the limestone bedrock generally give rise to cavities which subsequently could lead to formation of sinkholes. Similar erosional processess acting on the steep cliff faces of the limestone hills could lead to rockfalls. Records show that sinkholes in the Kinta Valley form within a north-northeast- trending zone along the western flank of the valley and within a north-northwest-trending zone along east. | ||
