520 _aBased on the observation and studies, the rocks in the study area can be divided into 3 distinct groups ; gabbro, diorite and hornfels. Gabbro and diorite are the ones that form the stock intrusion that results in the prominent hills at Pulau Salak. From the modal analysis, the rocks show high content of plagioclase (49.4% o 68.2%) and they all contain the essential minerals that consist o pyroxene, hornblends, biotite as well as the accessory amount of opqque oxides and quartz. The rocks also show evidence secondary minerals that form due to alteration ; sericite, saussurite and uralite (hornblende). The gabbro shows ophitic structure and the plagioclase mineral displays complex twinning as well as intense oscillatory and normal zoning. This suggest complex magmatic crystallization of the igneous rocks in the maging chamber. This also implies the rapid cooling of the intrusion during emplacement at the near surface.
