520 _aGold occurs in the alluvium of most of the valleys of rivers draining from the syenite. It is found in the Sungei Panau, on which the three areas, numbered 1, 2, and 3, are situated. Most of the gold occurs in coarse grained alluvial deposits, commonly boulder bads, cobble beds, and gravels, resting on bedrock either of sedimentary, pyroclastic or igneous rocks. The thickness of the alluvium generally does not exceed 15 feet or 20 feet; it may be less than 10 feet or but a few feet thick.
