The project is part of Groundwater Resource Development project under the Sixth Malaysia Plan (P18/77). The hydrogeological investigation was carried out from September 1993 to December 1993. kampung Kuala Nyalau faces difficulties on procuring sufficient clean fresh water especially during the extended dry season. Additionally, the Nyalau River is at times poluted by the development activity in the catchment area.
