Fateh Chand
Follow-up investigation of clays in the Sungai Kumai area, Pahang Tenggara Fateh Chand, Ong Wee Seck. - 1973 - 5p. ill. 33cm
Field investigations have shown that the clays of the Sungai Kumai area are residual in origin and they are widespread in gently undulating to low-lying areas underlain by argillaceous rocks. The clays vary in thickness from 10 feet to some 38 feet, depending on the lithology of the underlying rock and the topography of the area. Laterite was encountered in a good number of holes and thicknesses up to 8 feet were recorded. Thin horizons of variable plastic clays were encountered suggesting apparently a banded argillaceous parent rock. In some hotes the clay was of low plasticity towards bedrock and it is thought that such zones represent the weathered bedrock.
