In 1977 there were 27 active limestone quarries in the Kinta producing crushed stones mainly for road metal and concrete aggregates. Some of the limestone is used for the manufacture of cement, lime and limestone powder for use in various industries. Selected stone (marble) is used for dimension stone and terrazzo chips.
