The lack of high quality stones has been one of the main reasons that have hindered developments and road construction in the area. The presence of deposits as close to the road route as possible and at several places along the route is economically important. Sandstone of the Tertiary Formations are the most widely distributed and readily available stones along the proposed road route from Sungai Ingar to Lawas.
