The rock types encountered are mainly volcanics, chert, limestone, bedded shale and mudstone. The volcanics which generally outcrops in the form of rapids across the stream, occurs mainly in the lower reaches of Sungai Aring while the sedimentary rocks are confined to the upper reaches. The volcanics consist of rhyolite, rhyodacite, andesite and the their pyroclastic equivalents, mainly crystal tuff.
