An compact kaolinite occuring as boulders is studied by chemical, DTA, optical and x-ray methods. It is variegated in colour, with specific gravity of 2.56 and Mohs hardness of 2.5. DTA and x-ray pattern give prominent exothermic peak and strong interplanar spacings, respectively, which are diagnostic for kaolinite. Chemical analyses show the average alumina content is 40.3 percent.
